The Global Friendship Foundation is the founder of the Hungarian Festival in Sarasota.
The Hungarian Festival connects the Hungarian diaspora and Americans of Hungarian descent both with the local community and Hungary.
The mission of the Festival is to embrace ethnic and cultural diversity, bridge generations, and offer invaluable contribution to the community
by sharing cultural values and traditions.
Our annual Hungarian Festival in Sarasota helps us bring the amazing Hungarian culture close to many people over a weekend.
Needless to say, being able to stay connected with the cultural roots is vital for those thousands of Hungarians who live in the Suncoast area.
The two-day event is a celebration of the Hungarian cultural heritage through the many activities, games, music, shows and, of course, authentic Hungarian food.
The program’s focus areas are Hungarian culture and interpersonal and cultural ties between Hungary and the US. The Hungarian festival launched 2007 in the back of a local clubhouse with one musician, 5 vendors and about 300 attendees. As we grew each year, we needed to move to a bigger venue in 2010.
Currently, we are at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds, which allows us to host our event on 20 acres with more than 1,000 parking spots.
We invite 5-7 musicians or groups, have more than 20 vendors and our attendence is close to 4,000.
We are experts in organizing this event and we do this with a handful of volunteers, friends, and family who share our goals and missions.
Thank you for everybody’s hard work to make this happen!
